We celebrated our third birthday on March 4 with incredible energy and a wonderful response from those who shared the day with us. In all, we had nearly 300 individuals in attendance. We had three testimonies prepared for that morning, one given by John. He is 83 years old, and gave his life to Jesus just a couple of months ago and has already read through the Bible twice. With over 80 baptisms since we were planted here in Portland and 20 coming up very soon, God is doing amazing things.
Jared and Rachel Cowgur, our new Youth Minister and his lovely wife, have been with us for three months. In this time the youth group has nearly doubled. They are both leading a weekly small group with all of our youth coaches attending. It is a powerful thing to see how these families are sold out to what the Cowgurs have brought to EastPointe. With 48 kids attending a weekend retreat, it shows us that they are also being blessed by what Jared and Rachel bring to the community we serve.
We have been conversing with the Casco Bay Christian Church for the past several months. Their part-time minister, Larry, has become a dear friend and we love being around him and his family. Casco Bay has been coming to worship with us once a month and they are exploring a permanent partnership. Larry would make a wonderful Small Group Minister, which is already one of his gifts and passions.
