Church in A Theater!
As of this week we found out that our facility decision is final. We will be holding regular services in CinemaWorld in the Lincoln Mall. While the mall itself is not the most exciting place, the theaters are great. We will use two theaters (one for adults, one for children), a party room and another room in our new offices adjacent to the theaters for more children's ministry space. It's good to know that this piece of the puzzle is settled. The location is beneficial for many reasons including accessibility, storage, flexibility, and familiarity in the community. We have spoken to many people about the idea of doing church in a theater and so far the reactions have been positive. There is a growing curiosity about a new church that will meet in a theater.
Please keep us in your prayers as we begin to look at equipment purchases and how we will use the area God has provided. One of the highest priorities is to ensure that we have the most secure children's ministry possible. In this culture it will be essential that we do everything to protect the children that parents are entrusting to us every week.

Community Touch -Making Waves in RI
Another of our priorities is to create a buzz in the area about the new church. We do this through Community Touch events where we attempt to reach out and allow our community to see the heart of NorthPointe Christian Church. We want to communicate through acts of generosity, fun family events, and service oriented partnerships that we are a church that is outward focused and cares about people both in and out of the church.
Allow me to share just one of the upcoming opportunities for NorthPointe. We have been invited to host the non-denominational service for Operation Stand-Down Rhode Island in September. This event is a three day tent city for the homeless veterans from all over Rhode Island. We learned that in the past it's been difficult to get other churches to participate. We are thankful and consider it a privilege to be a part of this worthy event to serve those who served our great country.
There are several other events and projects that now fill our calendar -everything from Party in the Park (family festival) days to painting offices for the Cumberland Recreation Department, to serving a meal to a bunch of firefighters in our community. Please be praying that God will stretch the days (and stretch us!) so we can do more for the glory of God as people look to his church for solutions to life's challenges.

Please don't hesitate to call or email if you ever need clarity on something you have read, or just want to hear some more stories. I have plenty. Always remember, we regularly update our blog with personal stories and struggles, as well as additions (you better check out the blog, for that update!)
One thing specifically that you could always keep on your list is that God would continue opening more doors for new relationships to develop. This has been good recently but we are hopeful to meet many more people who are receptive to the idea of a new church. Pray that God would give us the courage to step out and talk with someone about faith in Jesus Christ. After all, that's why we are here.
Much Love,
Chris Link
